May Favourites - Beauty, Skincare and Haircare

The first two products I am going to talk about are definitely long term favourites they are just staples for me now and I don't think I could imagine life without them.

The first is the Body Shops Camomile cleansing butter which works like an absolute dream, I use it after I have taken off most of my face and eye makeup and it will remove any trace of makeup or mascara, it even works amazing for the whole of your face, but I like using a micellar water to take off most of my base makeup as It's less time consuming.

Now I am going to talk about the incredible Dry shampoo from Dove, I generally don't use Dove products a lot but I also think there body washes are gorgeous! but this is by far my favourite dry shampoo, leaves my hair feeling so fresh and the smell is also lovely and floral scented. It also doesn't leave a white cast in your hair so if you have dark hair and want to try a dry shampoo I do think this is amazing value and is the best one I have tried.

The Steps I Have To Take Before Applying My Makeup

Before applying my makeup it is like a ritual (I think that's the right word, anyway if not i'm sorry) that I follow all these steps beforehand. I will now share with you my four steps to skin prep!

1. Moisturise
It is a very necessary thing for me to moisturise before makeup as my skin is combination, I have quite a few spots all of the time but I also get really dry skin around my nose and bottle of my T-zone, Which can be a pain, but I use a moisturiser for dry skin just because oily-ness can be controlled by powdering but when foundation clings to my dry patches I cannot deal with that. Moisturising is important for all skin types even oily, you just need to find the right one for you.

2. Using a lip scrub
This is vital for me if I am wearing a lipstick that day, especially a matte colour, your lips need to be in good condition before you start applying a lip stick or lip product. I love the Lush lip scrub as I find it helps just that extra bit before applying a lip balm and to make the lipstick I am wearing look smoother and the colour pays off better.

3. Using a Lip Balm
Next I will use a lip balm to prep my lips for my lip colour of choice that day, I love the Carmex lip balms, nothing works quite the same for me as these do. And I feel they work wonders in the winter too if you suffer from dry lips in the winter months. But it is perfect for me to just apply and that's it, it leaves my lips super soft and smooth.

4. Using a Primer
I then use a primer, after leaving my moisturiser to sink into my skin for around 10 minutes. A primer is supposed to increase the longevity and wear of your makeup and this means less touching up your foundation, concealer and anything else you may have used, I love a primer to just smooth and prepare my skin for makeup, I find it makes my skin look a lot nicer aswell as the primer I use reduces your pores, and also helps to keep the makeup lasting all day.

Makeup tools that I can't live without

I wanted to do something different today that I feel like not many people have blogged about, I am going to be showing you makeup tools that are must haves in my collection.
These are all things I need during makeup application or during my skincare routine, minus makeup brushes as they are by far my favourite makeup tools!

1. Bourjois sharpener
The first thing I can't live without is the Bourjois pencil sharpener for eyeliners, brow pencils and lip pencils, It is amazing for all these things as a lot of  products in my makeup collection are in pencil form-mostly lip liners and lip crayons! I think this is such a must have item for me because I am always needing to sharpen my eyeliners and lip crayons! There is a smaller side which fits in eyeliners and lip liners and the other is quite chunky and will sharpen my 'Maybelline Colour drama' Lip crayons perfectly.

My flawless makeup base | high end and drugstore

These are all the amazing products I am including in today's blog post, I am loving a lot of full coverage foundations lately because my skin isn't really very clear and I do get quite a few big blemishes on my face that I would prefer to cover. I use all of these without powder unless I know I am going out for the whole day or if it is a hot day!

Both of these foundations last me the whole day unlike other foundations that aren't very full coverage and slide off my face half way through the day! So if your looking for a new foundation or to try a different foundation routine these include my absolute holy grail makeup items both high end and drugstore, So I hope you enjoy!

Banish the Blemishes!

I never usually write posts about skincare products as I have naturally spot/acne prone skin and I find nothing helps improve the appearance of my skin, but I must say I tried the body shop's tea tree range on a whim to see if it calmed down my skin or made my spots any less irritated than other facial washes did.

These two products I combine in my skin care routine and have done for around a month, and I must say they have definitely helped, I don't think they are a miracle product as nothing I have used on my face has been 100% effective in reducing my blemishes and acne, but I had heard the tea tree range the body shop did was great, so that is why I invested in these two products and I don't regret it at all.

My skin is a lot less irritated and less red and blotchy, I find I always need a high coverage foundation to cover redness from patches of blemishes on my face, but I feel a lot more confident just wearing concealer some days and not the full hog!

This is my current Mac lipstick collection, I joined the hype of Mac lipsticks around about two years ago, and my first one which I received as a birthday present from a friend was 'Creme Cup' it is probably the most hyped about Mac lipstick and I must say it is in my opinion the most lovely pinky lipstick and is perfect for Spring.

Lipsticks from Mac come in a range of different finishes these are: Cremesheen, Satin, Matte, Amplified, Amplified Creme, Frost, Glaze, Lustre, and Retro Matte, the finishes of the lipsticks I have are: Matte, Cremesheen, Amplified and Satin, these are also my favourite finishes.

The Drugstore Products I've Used up

Carmex lip balm - £2.69
This is by far my favourite lip balm it is so moisturising and when your lips are super dry this is literally a god send! Amazing the whole year round as my lips can be dry in any season, it is perfect as it is small and a perfect hand bag sized product, can't live without it now and don't know how I ever did before I discovered it!

Barry M Lip gloss in Toffee - £4.49
I am a girl who both loves lipstick and lip gloss, as long as I've found the right ones for me. I am a huge fan of the Barry m lip glosses as they are the least sticky ones I have found and there are quite a few lovely colours which I am eyeing up too! This one in the shade Toffee is perfect for me over a nude lip and this I use a lot so I had to purchase another(hence why it doesn't look empty haha)
